Does the Borough provide garbage pick-up?
No, the tenant or property owner has to contract with a garbage hauler on his or her own. However, the Borough does provide curbside recycling pick-up. For more information you may contact the recycling center at 570-424-5170. (link to recycling section)

Do I need a permit for a yard/garage sale?
Yes, there is a charge for the permit and you may have the sale 2 consecutive days with a selection of a rain date. You are only allowed to have a total of 2 yard sales per year.

Do I need a permit to put up a banner?
Yes, a permit is required with a cost of $25.00 if you are a borough resident and $100.00 if you are not. A certificate of insurance is also required.

There are 2 areas in the borough to hang banners. One is at Ninth Street at St. John’s Church and the other is on Main Street between Fifth and Sixth Streets.

Do I need a permit to have a parade?
Yes, you must submit a letter stating the date, route, time and a certificate of insurance must accompany the letter.

Do I need a permit to have a bake sale?
Yes, you must fill out the application at the borough office with the date, location and time of sale, but there is not a charge for a bake sale.

Do I obtain a marriage license from the borough?
No, all marriage licenses are obtain through the Monroe County Courthouse. You may call the courthouse at 570-420-3400. (link to county web-page)

Is the borough the department of health?
No, although we do have a health officer for matters within the borough, Health Officer, the state has a state health office which you may reach at 570-424-3020.

Where can I pay for a parking ticket I received?
You may drop your payment in a US Post Office Box or drop it in the "Payment Drop Box" outside of the municipal building at the curb on North Seventh Street. This payment box was installed in 2008 to be more convenient to make you payment without getting out of your car; it is much like a drive up mail box. You may also come into the municipal building and pay for your ticket at our front desk in the Borough Manger's office. Please pay by check or money order and include the ticket number on your form of payment. This way you will have proof of payment should you need to research payments you have made in the past.

When are residential parking permits enforced?
The residential parking permits are enforced Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Do I have to put money in meters on Saturday?
Yes, metered parking is enforced Monday through Saturday. The hours of enforcement are 9 AM 
     to 6 PM.

Does the Borough sell municipal parking lot permits?
Yes, we sell quarterly permits in lots 2, 3, 4 and 5. Lot #2 is located off of Ann Street between Fifth and Sixth Streets this is where our parking deck is located. Lot #3 is located on south side Main Street between Seventh and Eight Streets. Lot #4 is located on the corner of Fifth and Sarah Streets. Lot #5 is located behind the buildings on Main Street between Seventh and Eighth Streets off of Bank Alley.
